SUMMARY:2020 Gaithersburg UkeFest
DESCRIPTION:In only it’s 2nd festival\, Gaithersburg UkeFest is now on the map as one of the premier ukulele festivals in the United States. The organizers attempt to provide an environment for learning by keeping most of the workshops offered to a maximum of 24 students. There are 76 workshop offerings over 8 workshop sessions\, taught by a staff of 21 ukulele instructors. There will be concerts on Friday and Saturday evening. A Hula seminar (Pilipa’a Hula Seminar) will be offered for intermediate to advanced level hula dancers during the festival by Kumu Sheldeen Haleamau. There will also be a Children’s Ukulele Festival occurring Saturday morning from 9:00-12 noon. You are welcome to stay after and join the jam! \n2:30-5:00pm – For those more experienced\, please join us from 2:30-5:00pm for jam and open mic \nThe Uke session is FREE\, food and drink items are available for purchase \nAs with always\, all are welcomed at this cozy venue and solo performances are encouraged! DESCRIPTION:A monthly strum along at a delightfully warm and friendly venue. All experience levels are welcome\, but having visited Ukesociety.com\, watched the beginners tutorial\, and practiced independently is encouraged/suggested as minimal instruction is provided at events. Songs for each event will be posted in the event’s discussion thread in the week prior to give you a chance to print copies or download songs onto your tablet. We have a few extra songbooks (primarily for walk-ins) but not enough for everyone to rely on borrowing/sharing. We hope to see you!

Performances by famous musicians from Hawaii and Japan are all lined up\, and we have also scheduled a performance by the amateur musician who wins the Ukuelele Competition prior to the picnic. It will be a whole day of musical enjoyment! You can indulge yourself in Ukulele sounds by professional musicians\, relax in the Hawaiian music\, shopping around at the vendor booths\, or you might take the opportunity to study professional Ukulele players’ techniques!
